SHOURI INDIA DOJO

THE GREATEST VICTORY IS THE VICTORY OVER ONESELF
Shouri India Dojo was founded with a deep dedication to preserving the authentic spirit and traditions of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do. Our lineage traces directly to the teachings of Chojun Miyagi Sensei, founder of Goju-Ryu, through the distinguished Meibukan tradition — and we are honoured to continue this heritage under the guidance of Soke Hanshi Meitatsu Yagi, Chairman of the International Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Association (IMGKA), Okinawa, Japan.
At Shouri India Dojo, Karate is not merely a system of combat or physical conditioning — it is a lifelong discipline of self-cultivation. Through sincere practice, students refine character, deepen awareness, and harmonise mind, body, and spirit. The principles of Goju-Ryu — Go (hard) and Ju (soft) — remind us that true strength must be tempered by humility, and confidence guided by wisdom.
We believe every individual walks a unique path. Rather than measuring oneself against others, we encourage students to focus on their own growth — to become better than the person they were yesterday. Training encompasses kihon, kata, bunkai, self-defence, and traditional Okinawan values, each serving not just as technical practice but as lessons in perseverance, humility, and gratitude.
Since 1997, Shouri India Dojo has been committed to nurturing students of all ages — not only as martial artists, but as individuals striving to live with integrity, discipline, and purpose. Our mission is simple: to cultivate strong character, clear minds, and indomitable spirits. Because the ultimate purpose of Karate-Do is not the conquest of others — it is the mastery of oneself.
It is the pursuit of excellence—not in comparison with others, but in fulfilment of one's own highest potential.
